Ricardo Villalobos’ debut album, ‘Alcachofa’, is set to be reissued after 20 years. The album, which was first released by Playhouse, will now span four vinyl instead of three, as it will include three additional tracks. Perlon is set to reissue the album, which includes some of Villalobos classics such as ‘Dexter’ and ‘Easy Lee.’
The new tracks that will be included on the re-release are ‘Bach To Back’, ‘Y.G.H.’ and ‘Waiworinao’, although two of these tracks were on the CD version. In Mixmag’s collection of the 50 most influential dance music albums, ‘Alcachofa’ was named a “subtle brilliance of minimal electronic music.”
Previously, Playhouse reissued the album in 2011, and in 2015, Villalobos reissued ‘Easy Lee’ and ‘Dexter’ on his Sei Es Drum label. Villalobos recently released a two-track remix pack of Ela Minus and DJ Python’s EP ‘♡’ (or ‘corazón’) earlier this year.
The re-release of ‘Alcachofa’ is out on October 27 via Perlon. Listen to the album below to hear the new tracks that have been added.
