Fold, also known as Rob Glassett, has unveiled his newly formed label, FLDIN2, with the release of his latest single, “Billa”. The label’s primary objective will be to release singles of Fold’s solo work. The digital singles will be followed shortly by a double-sided vinyl EP that groups two tracks together, with a 45 RPM cut. The cut is an ode to how Fold collected drum ‘n’ bass and UKG records back in the early 2000s.
In an interview with Mixmag, Glassett mentioned “the A side would be the banger, and the B side usually something interesting to complement it… or another banger!” ‘Billa’ arguably falls under the banger category, and has been featured in the summer sets of Joy Orbison and Wallwork. It has also been played on Ben UFO’s Hessle Audio residency and Nervous Horizon on Rinse FM.
Fold set up FLDIN2 to combat the decline of dubplate culture, saying that he “finds music that was popular in the past that nobody else is playing” thrilling. Glassett, who also runs Well Street Records with Sam Fussell as Robert Fleck, has been testing his new music while on the UK leg of Overmono’s global tour. Fold and Overmono will both play at Mixmag’s 40th birthday party at E1 soon.
You can pre-order “Billa,” which was mastered by the widely recognized Welsh electronic duo Overmono, from FLDIN2. Also, FLDIN2’s digital singles are on their way soon
