A nine-year-old girl from West Yorkshire has tragically died following an incident in Arbroath. Authorities responded to reports shortly after midnight on Sunday at the Elliot Industrial Estate, where the young girl was found injured. Alongside her, four other individuals were also taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee for treatment.
The girl later succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. Police have confirmed that a 35-year-old white British man, known to the child, was apprehended in connection with the case. He has subsequently been charged and is scheduled to appear at Forfar Sheriff Court on Wednesday.
Detective Inspector Mike Ness, leading the major investigation team at Police Scotland, stated that there are no other suspects involved in the incident. He further explained that the family of the young girl, who had been camping nearby, is receiving support from officers trained in specialist victim care.
Det Insp Ness expressed sympathy for those affected, saying, “Our thoughts remain with those affected by these events.” He also mentioned that police presence would continue in the area as the investigation proceeds
