A 42-year-old man has been sentenced to six months in prison following his discovery behind a concealed wall on a cannabis cultivation site. Albert Hysaj admitted to the charge of cannabis production during proceedings at Cardiff Crown Court last Friday.
The discovery occurred in May when a police sniffer dog named Asko detected Hysaj’s presence within a commercial building situated on the Bowen Industrial Estate in Aberbargoed, Caerphilly county. The property consisted of two interconnected units encompassing three separate rooms.
During the police investigation, officers from Gwent Police uncovered a total of 313 cannabis plants growing inside the premises. The units also contained a living space equipped with both a kitchen and bathroom facility, highlighting the residential setup within the industrial location.
Following his guilty plea, Hysaj received a custodial sentence reflective of the seriousness of the cannabis production offense. The case underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to locate and dismantle illegal drug operations using specialized resources such as trained sniffer dogs
