UK rapper and YouTube personality Yung Filly, born Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, has been acquitted of raping a fan following a nightclub performance in Australia earlier this year. The incident allegedly took place in a hotel room in Hillarys, a coastal area near Perth, after Barrientos had performed. The woman involved was 20 years old at the time of the accusation.
On Friday, a jury delivered a verdict of not guilty on three counts of sexual penetration without consent related to the case. However, the jury was unable to reach a unanimous decision on three additional counts concerning the same offence. Alongside these verdicts, Barrientos was also cleared of one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm and strangulation.
Despite the acquittals, the court found Barrientos guilty on two counts of assault. The 30-year-old social media figure will remain out on bail until 21 August, when the court will determine the date for his sentencing. Meanwhile, prosecutors are expected to decide how to proceed regarding the charges for which the jury could not come to a verdict.
