This year’s Download Festival marked a significant milestone by featuring, for the first time since its inception and that of its predecessor Monsters Of Rock, a female-fronted band as the headliner. The honor went to Linkin Park, who closed the event on Sunday night with a memorable and dynamic performance. Despite the ongoing debates surrounding the band’s decision to continue after the loss of their late lead singer Chester Bennington, Emily Armstrong—who joined the band more recently—delivered a powerful and heartfelt set. She breathed new life into classic tracks like “Numb” and “Papercut,” while her harmonies on “Overflow” blended seamlessly with co-vocalist Mike Shinoda’s contributions.

The festival commenced on Friday at Donington Park in Leicestershire, welcoming a diverse lineup that included the iconic California hip-hop group Cypress Hill on the main stage.
