Girl appears in court over Manchester school stabbing charges

A 14-year-old girl has been remanded into youth detention following a court appearance where she was charged in connection with a knife attack at a school. The teenager, whose identity is protected by legal restrictions, attended Westminster Magistrates’ Court via videolink on Friday.

She faces serious allegations including three counts of attempted murder and two counts of possessing a bladed article on school premises. During the brief hearing, she only confirmed her personal details such as her name, date of birth, and address. Due to the gravity of the case, District Judge Briony Clarke ordered the matter to be escalated to the Crown Court.

Bail was denied at this stage, and the accused will make her next court appearance at the Old Bailey on 19 June. The incident took place earlier this week at Co-op Academy, located in the Blackley area on Plant Hill Road. Two 14-year-old students and a 27-year-old staff member were injured during the attack.

All three individuals received hospital treatment but were discharged without sustaining serious injuries. Although counter-terrorism police are involved in the investigation, authorities have stated that the attack has not been classified as a terrorist incident at this time
