Superdry co-founder James Holder jailed for rape

James Holder, co-founder of the fashion brand Superdry, has been sentenced to eight years in prison for rape. The 54-year-old, who resides in Cheltenham, was convicted of attacking a woman in her apartment following an evening out in May 2022.

During the sentencing hearing at Bristol Crown Court, Recorder David Chidgey described Holder’s actions as a “despicable piece of sexual violence.” Holder appeared remotely from prison and showed no visible reaction as the sentence was pronounced.

The victim’s statement was read aloud in court, expressing the profound impact of the crime. She said that Holder had taken away her “choice, dignity and body” and lamented how the assault had cast “shadows where there should be light.”

This case is still being updated, with further details to be released in due course
