Superdry co-founder James Holder guilty of rape

James Holder, co-founder of the fashion brand Superdry, has been found guilty of raping a woman. The 54-year-old businessman was convicted following a five-day trial held at Gloucester Crown Court in Cirencester. His case was decided by a jury composed of seven men and five women.

A witness recounted that although separate taxis had been arranged for the two, Holder entered the victim’s taxi, which was headed to her home. The court also heard that Holder fell asleep in the woman’s bed while his friend took the sofa, leaving her to sleep on the floor.

Prosecutor James Haskell described how Holder approached the woman in the living room and invited her to join him in the bedroom. She declined, saying she was tired, but Holder allegedly pulled her onto the bed. Holder firmly denied both charges against him
