Next month, individuals considering moving away from petrol or diesel cars have the chance to receive free professional guidance at a dedicated electric vehicle (EV) showcase. In collaboration with Let’s Experience Electric, Liverpool City Council is organizing an event featuring more than 20 electric vehicles prominently displayed along Church Street and Lord Street.
Scheduled for Friday, 8 May, from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm, the event offers the public an opportunity to closely examine some of the latest models of electric cars currently available. Visitors will be able to enter and explore the interiors of all the vehicles on show, providing a hands-on experience.
Representatives from various manufacturers and dealers, including Chery, Ford, BYD, and Kia, will be present to provide expert advice and answer questions about transitioning to electric vehicles. This initiative is part of the council’s broader effort to promote sustainable transportation options throughout the city.
To support this shift, Liverpool City Council has recently installed 300 on-street charging points in residential neighborhoods. These chargers, conveniently integrated into existing lampposts, help residents without private driveways or garages to charge their EVs close to home. The placement of these charging stations was informed by requests from local residents and uses suitable columns already in place. Councillor Dan Barrington, Cabinet Member for Transport and Connectivity, emphasized the importance of this effort: “Making the switch to an electric vehicle is a big decision, and we want residents to feel confident, informed and supported. This showcase is a great opportunity for people to explore the latest EVs, speak directly with experts and get honest, practical advice. It’s just one of the ways we’re helping Liverpool move towards cleaner, greener transport.”
