Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, a well-known British rapper and online personality, has been charged with several serious allegations, including rape, in Australia. Barrientos, who is popularly known as Yung Filly, has been associated with the YouTube collective Beta Squad and has hosted a number of shows for BBC Three. On Tuesday, he was arrested in Brisbane, and the following day was flown to Perth to attend a court hearing.
The 29-year-old rapper was charged on Thursday with four counts of sexual penetration without consent, three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count of impeding a person’s normal breathing or circulation by applying pressure on or to their neck. Allegedly, he brought a woman in her 20s back to his hotel when he was performing at a nightclub called Bar120 in Perth last week. The assault is claimed to have taken place on Saturday, September 28.
Barrientos appeared in the Perth Magistrates court represented by barrister Seamus Rafferty SC, who applied for bail on his behalf. The court approved his bail application. However, no comment has been released yet from his representatives.
Barrientos has previously performed in the UK on Soccer Aid on ITV and The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up 2 Cancer on Channel 4. The rapper has been touring in Australia to promote his music
