Noel Gallagher has announced that he will undergo surgery on his knee. The musician made the revelation on a recent podcast with Matt Morgan where he said, “I’ve got bad knees actually. I’ve got to have an operation on my f***ing knee”. Although the specifics of Gallagher’s surgery have not been disclosed, it is believed arthritis is the cause. Sources claim that Gallagher is unhappy about having to take time off work to recover from the procedure.
Noel is continuing his current tour with The High Flying Birds, which ends on August 4th at the Y Not Festival, before his planned break. The musician has had to follow in his brother Liam’s footsteps, who underwent hip surgery after his own arthritis diagnosis in 2023. After the operation, Liam tweeted, “Riverdance here I come” and reassured fans he is working on getting his swagger back.
Noel is not missing any scheduled appearances, having recently been spotted at the Glastonbury Festival. However, he did comment that he found the festival a bit too “woke,” stating that he doesn’t like political statements or bands preaching on stage. Despite his personal views, he did enjoy the performance by Kneecap, a group of Northern Irish rappers with a song called “Get Your Brits Out,” commenting “they were really, really good.”
In other Noel news, Manchester City football club engaged him to design the font for their new kit. The unique design was created by Gallagher writing out each player’s name and number by hand and then transferring his handwriting onto the cup shorts for the coming season. The kit will be worn by the team for every Champions League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup match throughout the 2024-25 campaign
