Murder investigation launched after body found in Prestatyn van fire

Authorities have initiated a murder inquiry following the discovery of a body inside a burning van. The incident occurred on Gas Works Lane in Prestatyn, Flintshire, with emergency responders arriving at approximately 23:30 BST on Sunday after receiving reports of the vehicle on fire.

At this time, the victim’s identity remains unknown. Detective Superintendent Chris Bell stated, “Officers are working at pace to identify the person.” A police cordon has been established around the scene to aid ongoing investigations.

Detective Superintendent Bell also emphasized that once identification is confirmed, specially trained officers will provide support to the deceased’s family promptly. He added, “We understand this incident may cause concern within the local community, and I would like to reassure the public that there is a visible policing presence in the area.”

North Wales Police have urged anyone who was near Gas Works Lane between 22:45 and 23:45 on Sunday and witnessed or heard anything suspicious to come forward and assist with the inquiry
