An old railway station house located in Bleasby, Nottinghamshire, has attracted considerable attention after being labeled the “scariest house on Rightmove.” Dating back to the 1840s, this historic property once served as the residence for station masters who managed the opening and closing of the station barriers. While the house is rich in local heritage, it is the eerie appearance in the listing photographs that has captured widespread interest.
Jonathan Way, the area manager at Auction House Notts & Derby, believes the fascination partly stems from a “creepy doll” positioned in the corner of one of the bedrooms. The home has been vacant for a significant time, and following several break-ins, the downstairs windows were boarded up, contributing to the unsettling atmosphere. Way mentioned that the house had remained largely untouched prior to the photos being taken for the property listing.
Describing his initial visit alongside colleagues, Way said, “It was a little bit unsettling. It was all boarded up downstairs, there wasn’t any natural light downstairs. The lights weren’t working either so we had to use phone lights to move around. Upstairs wasn’t too bad but the doll and the pram were a little bit creepy. I definitely wasn’t expecting that when I walked up the stairs.” This depiction of the site complements its reputation for spooking potential buyers and viewers.
The property recently gained further prominence when a TikTok content creator, managing the Housing Horrors account, shared a video dubbing it the “scariest house on Rightmove.” This account frequently showcases unusual property listings from across the UK. Despite the spooky vibes, the house has not deterred interest. Way confirmed that the home remains popular and described it as a rare find, saying, “It’s a really old station house. It’s still got the original brickwork and the design inside obviously hasn’t been touched for a number of years.” The auction is scheduled for 28 September
