According to the document, the United Kingdom agrees to intercept boats departing from French shores that enter British territorial waters and to return those on board back to France. In turn, France is expected to accept these individuals and proceed with their repatriation to their countries of origin under French laws governing expulsion.
When questioned during a news conference about the term “ordinarily” in the agreement—implying that France might not accept every returned migrant—Farage dismissed the concern as mere “legalese.” He maintained that the proposal would remove any motivation to pay traffickers for Channel crossings, asserting that this would quickly undermine their operational “business model.”
