During the trial, prosecutor Sally-Anne Russell presented CCTV footage that allegedly captured conversations between Hakim and Al-Shamie, in which Hakim appeared to “condone and support” the terrorist act. These recordings form a critical part of the case, highlighting Hakim’s potential involvement prior to the incident.
It was revealed that Hakim and Al-Shamie attended the same mosque and frequently traveled together by car before the attack occurred. The incident took place on Yom Kippur, a significant and holy day in the Jewish calendar, adding to the context of the assault.
The attack resulted in the deaths of two individuals. Cravitz, aged 66, succumbed to knife wounds inflicted by Al-Shamie. Meanwhile, Daulby, aged 53, was fatally shot in the chest by an armed police officer who responded rapidly to the scene in Crumpsall, a district of the city. Additionally, three other men sustained serious injuries and required hospital treatment.
