Six individuals have been taken into custody in East Lothian following the abduction of a man in Edinburgh. According to Police Scotland, the incident was first reported around 10:30 pm on Thursday in the Canonmills district of the city.
On the following day, a 22-year-old male was located in Longniddry and was transported to a hospital as a precautionary measure. Authorities have arrested six suspects: five men aged between 21 and 45, and a 40-year-old woman. Investigations into the matter remain active.
As part of the police response, the A198 road passing through Longniddry has been closed, with alternative routes established for traffic. Officials have emphasized that this appears to be a targeted event and that there is no threat to the general public’s safety.
Detective Inspector Robbie Wallace commented on the situation, stating, “We understand an incident of this nature will be concerning but please be assured our inquiries are ongoing. Police will remain in the Longniddry area while this investigation continues and anyone with any concerns, or information, can approach these officers.” Additionally, social media reports noted the presence of armed officers removing an individual from a vehicle, and Lothian Buses confirmed that some routes serving Longniddry were diverted due to the road closure.
