Simon Levy, a convicted serial sex offender and double murderer, has been condemned by victims’ relatives and a survivor, who denounced him as a “parasite” unworthy of anything but a lifetime behind bars. At 49 years old, Levy was sentenced to life imprisonment on Wednesday after being found guilty of murdering two women and raping another, all while out on bail for previous sexual assaults.
During the court hearing, the families of Levy’s victims confronted him, with one survivor telling him he was undeserving of any more of her “words or time.” The sister of Sheryl Wilkins, one of the murdered women and a mother of four, became emotional as she recalled the devastating loss of her sister, describing Sheryl as a “beautiful soul” cruelly taken by an “evil act of crime.” Lindsey Hicks expressed the profound grief and irreversible damage Levy had inflicted on their family, stating, “You, Simon Levy, have destroyed our lives and we will never get over this.”
Mary Wilkins, Sheryl’s mother, also shared a poignant statement read in court, reflecting on how her daughter’s tragic death in August 2025 ultimately led to justice and perhaps saved others from harm. She honored Sheryl’s memory, emphasizing the void left by her loss: “Sheryl was taken from us one day before her 40th birthday, she had so many hopes and dreams.” Mary stressed the deep impact on her children, who were deprived not only of their mother but also any future with her, underscoring, “Sheryl’s life mattered… Simon you have changed our lives forever but you cannot take away our love for Sheryl.”
Levy’s other victim, grandmother Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo, was killed earlier in March 2025. Her daughter, Nazly Johana Fuenmayor Valencia, spoke about the heartbreak her family endured. She described Carmenza’s kindness and the cruel irony that her mother had moved to the UK seeking safety and a better life for her family, only to have her life violently taken. Adding to the horror, a woman who survived Levy’s rape in January 2025 shared the lasting trauma inflicted upon her, recalling his smell and the sense of being violated completely. She called him a “parasite,” someone “not worthy of any more of my words or time.”
Both of Levy’s murders were driven by sexual motives. Carmenza was suffocated in an abandoned block of flats in the Aylesbury estate in south-east London, while Sheryl was found dead behind a car park wall near Tottenham High Road in north London, where Levy had also carried out the rape attack. Despite the victim reporting his address to the police, Levy was not questioned until after the two murders occurred. This raised serious concerns about the decision to grant him bail repeatedly, even as the number of attacks increased. The Recorder of London, Judge Mark Lucraft KC, handed down a whole life sentence, condemning Levy as someone who “ruthlessly exploits others for your own personal sexual satisfaction” and who has a “morbid fascination with sex, rape and crime.
