A tragic incident occurred in Nottinghamshire involving a young child. A four-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle on Nottingham Road, located in the village of Gotham. Emergency responders arrived at the scene at 14:28 BST on Sunday, according to Nottinghamshire Police.
The injured girl was transported to a hospital but sadly passed away shortly after arrival. Following the incident, authorities arrested a 59-year-old man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has since been released on bail.
The collision took place near the junction with Meadow End. Officers from Nottinghamshire Police’s serious collision investigation unit are conducting inquiries and have urged anyone who witnessed the event or who possesses dashcam footage to come forward to assist with the investigation.
Sgt Paul Clark commented on the situation, stating, “This is a deeply tragic incident and our thoughts are with the young girl’s loved ones at this unimaginably difficult time.” He emphasized that investigations are ongoing and requested the public refrain from speculation online, while also asking that the family’s privacy be respected as they deal with their loss
