They labeled Donaldson a “fraudulent monster,” citing his abuse of power and trust through acts of child sex abuse.

During a debate held on Tuesday at Stormont, Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) characterized Donaldson’s life as “double and duplicitous,” while simultaneously praising the courage of his victims in coming forward. All parties took a firm stance, demanding that Donaldson be stripped of his knighthood and expelled from the Privy Council in response to his criminal conviction.

In addition to the political fallout, Donaldson has faced organizational consequences, having been expelled from the Orange Order. A representative from the group stated, “We do not comment on individual cases. However, in accordance with our rules, the membership of any individual found guilty of a serious criminal offence or ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register is terminated with immediate effect.
