Authorities are seeking information from the public regarding a Polish hairdresser who was last seen alive six months ago. Bedfordshire Police have revealed that limited details are known about Beata Szauer, aged 46, who was discovered dead with suspected stab wounds at her residence on Brook Street on 7 January.
The last confirmed sighting of Beata, a mother of two, was recorded on CCTV footage dated Sunday, 21 December, about two weeks before her body was found. Detective Chief Inspector Sam Khanna expressed the investigation’s hope that “friends or associates” of Beata would come forward to assist in piecing together the circumstances surrounding her death.
Two men in their 50s had previously been arrested on suspicion of murder and were later released on police bail. Another man, aged in his 40s, who was also arrested in connection with the case, has since passed away. Authorities confirmed that his death is not being treated as suspicious.
Following a forensic post-mortem examination, it was concluded that Beata likely died from a stab wound. Det Ch Insp Khanna described her as a vulnerable individual and stated that she probably died approximately two weeks before her body was discovered by her landlord, who had not been able to contact her. Khanna further urged anyone who had social contact with Beata, or who might have been a client of hers in her occasional role as a remote hairdresser, to come forward. He added, “We owe it to Beata and her family to find answers, and to apprehend anyone involved in her death.”
