Students Rebuild, a charity focused on inspiring young people globally, has harnessed creativity as a means to foster connection and unity across diverse communities. Centered around this year’s theme, Unique & United, the initiative encourages youth aged five to 25 to express their perspectives on identity and togetherness through various artistic forms. By engaging with this theme, participants generate funding that supports organizations dedicated to building empathy and social cohesion in different parts of the world.
Operated by Creative Visions, a nonprofit that empowers artists and storytellers to promote social change through the arts, Students Rebuild channels creativity into financial support for partner groups. For every creative work submitted—or each young participant involved—Creative Visions contributes five dollars toward charities addressing the selected global issue, with annual contributions capped at one million dollars. This year, the programme has successfully unlocked the full amount, fueled by 114,445 participants who collectively produced 90,720 pieces of artwork. The diverse outputs include visual arts, performances, films, games, quilts, and school-wide cultural events that explore themes of identity, community, and belonging.
Among the recipients benefiting this year is the UK-based charity Choose Love, which aids refugees and displaced individuals through emergency support, advocacy, and collaboration with local entities. Their partnership with Students Rebuild was celebrated at an event in London on June 12, organized by Counterpoints Arts, Choose Love, and the Southbank Centre to launch Refugee Week London 2026. A highlight was a preview of a new public artwork created by Palestinian artist Malak Matar, inspired by conversations with young people in Greece and Ukraine about the meaning of being unique yet united. With the funds received, Choose Love is extending its programs with partners such as Dobrodiy Club in Ukraine and Refocus Media Labs and Free Movement Skateboarding in Greece, helping displaced and conflict-affected youth process their experiences and foster creativity in safer environments.
