Emily Grant, a 38-year-old seamstress from Colne, Lancashire, dedicated numerous hours in secret to sewing the extraordinary 40-foot wedding train for Venezuela Fury. Due to the immense size of the train, which far exceeded the capacity of her own workshop, she arranged to work in a church hall to complete the intricate details. This was her first experience working on a high-profile celebrity wedding.
The bride, Venezuela Fury, daughter of renowned boxer Tyson Fury, and her mother Paris, held a discreet first fitting with Grant as preparations began. Venezuela, aged 16, tied the knot with Noah Price last Sunday in a ceremony on the Isle of Man, where the Fury family recently relocated after having lived in Morecambe for many years. Grant expressed how Venezuela was delighted with her dress, saying, “Venezuela loved her dress and it all came together beautifully and she looked absolutely amazing.”
Grant was commissioned for the train by Ava Rose Hamilton, a bridal boutique based in Lancashire. Although initially nervous about the task and unsure of what to expect, she quickly found the Fury family to be warm and welcoming. Having worked as a seamstress for 15 years and running her own business, Sew In Love, for over a decade, she was entrusted with a project unlike any she had undertaken before. She recalled being sworn to secrecy from the very first phone call, which proved challenging as she admitted she was “not good at keeping secrets.”
Logistics were a major obstacle given the extraordinary length of the fishtail train. Grant was kindly allowed to use her mother’s church hall in Barnoldswick to lay out the fabric diagonally, even though the train was too long for the space. The project was completed in five weeks against a backdrop of long evenings and juggling work for other brides, all while preparing for her own upcoming wedding. The train’s design incorporated three layers of fabric, including a full lace layer edged with intricate detailing that Grant hand-sewed, supplemented by embroidery machine work. Reflecting on the experience, she said, “It was fun and a fantastic experience and Venezuela knew what she wanted,” adding that the surge of media attention following the wedding had been both surprising and exciting. The ceremony itself took place at the Victorian Royal Chapel of St John’s in the Isle of Man
