To celebrate Princess Charlotte’s 11th birthday, the Prince and Princess of Wales have shared a fresh portrait along with a video featuring their daughter. The new image shows Charlotte joyfully smiling while standing in a sunlit meadow. She is dressed casually in a black and red striped jumper paired with blue jeans. This photograph was taken by Matt Porteous during the family’s Easter holiday spent in Cornwall.
In addition to the portrait, a video from the same trip was also released. The footage captures several candid moments of Charlotte bowling a cricket ball, affectionately interacting with the family dogs Orla and Otto, and using white shells to create a message in the sand. Kensington Palace posted the clip on social media, accompanied by a message expressing gratitude for the birthday wishes directed to Princess Charlotte.
The family’s Easter getaway in Cornwall also produced other heartwarming images, including a scene where William and Catherine are lying in the grass with their children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—and their two dogs nearby. These pictures, similarly taken by Matt Porteous, highlight joyful family moments. Porteous, based in Jersey, has previously been commissioned by the royal family for various important occasions, such as Prince Louis’ christening, Christmas cards, and official portraits.
Princess Charlotte, formally known as Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte of Wales, was born on 2 May 2015 at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington. As the granddaughter of King Charles, she currently holds third place in the line of succession to the throne. She has two brothers, Prince George, aged 12, and Prince Louis, aged 8.
