Liverpool’s Chinatown is inviting individuals to submit their ideas for a fresh logo design. As the oldest Chinese community in Europe with a rich history spanning over 200 years, Chinatown is seeking concepts that honor its past while supporting its ongoing evolution. The initiative stems from a comprehensive study conducted by Liverpool City Council’s Business Support Service, which engaged with local businesses, community groups, and stakeholders to gain valuable insights into Chinatown’s essence and future prospects.
In line with the feedback gathered from various discussions, the council has released a creative brief outlining the importance of the logo design in this branding project. Interested participants can submit their concepts to chinatownlogo@kenyons.co.uk by the deadline of November 24. A shortlist of submissions will be compiled by December 9 and shared on social media platforms for a public vote lasting until December 16. This voting process will not only involve the general public but also Chinatown businesses and core community members in the decision-making.
The chosen logo will undergo further development by a team of professional creatives working closely with the selected artist. This collaboration is part of a larger Liverpool Chinatown brand strategy set to launch next year, with funding for the project coming from the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, overseen by the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority. Cabinet Member for Growth and Economy, Cllr Nick Small, emphasized the significance of this endeavor in shaping Chinatown’s future and leaving a lasting mark that resonates with its diverse audience.
