The heartbroken aunt of Elianne Andam, who was stabbed to death by Hassan Sentamu outside a shopping centre in Croydon in September 2023, has spoken in her first broadcast interview since the murder.
Marian Addow said her niece had been a “miracle baby” for her parents and was a “very beautiful” girl who brought joy to her family. She was “very academic” and had aspirations to become a human rights lawyer, she added.
Andam’s mother is too heartbroken to speak about what happened and Addow said she couldn’t walk past a mural of her niece painted on a wall in south London. Sentamu was found guilty of murder at the Old Bailey.
The schoolgirl’s death hit the Croydon community hard and hundreds of people, including the rapper Stormzy, came together for a vigil and the funeral.
