The mother of Jimmy Mizen, Margaret Mizen, has expressed her shock and disbelief upon hearing that her son’s killer had recorded music that made specific references to the brutal killing. Jake Farhi, who was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 14 years for the crime, has launched a drill rap career under the stage name of JCB. The Ministry of Justice has launched an investigation into the rapper after reports that one of his songs referenced Jimmy Mizen’s murder.
Ms Mizen told BBC Breakfast that she was still struggling to come to terms with the news, saying that she was “a little bit numb” upon hearing it. She went on to say that she would like answers as to why these particular lyrics were allowed to be recorded and released.
Farhi was released on license in June 2023 after serving just over 10 years of his sentence. He has since started a music career and records under the stage name JCB. His track, entitled “No Remorse”, was brought to the attention of authorities by a member of the public, who felt that the lyrics were inappropriate and made reference to a violent crime.
The Ministry of Justice has launched an investigation into Farhi over the content of his song, which they feel could be breaching the conditions of his license. A spokesperson for the Ministry said that they take the safety of the public very seriously and that they will be taking appropriate action if necessary
