The Wanted star Max George in hospital with 'heart issues'

Max George, a member of The Wanted boyband, has been forced to spend Christmas in hospital following tests that revealed he has “some issues” with his heart. The 36-year-old, who gained fame as part of the band in the early 2010s with bandmates Nathan Sykes, Jay McGuiness, Tom Parker and Siva Kaneswaran, was taken to the hospital on Wednesday after feeling “really unwell”. George has not revealed the extent of his health complications, but he has stated that he is awaiting further tests to determine how extensive the problems are and what type of surgery he should undergo.

George took to Instagram to announce the news, sharing a picture of himself giving a thumbs up while in the hospital bed, stating that although this is a huge shock, he will take it on with all he’s got. He acknowledged that it will be a “difficult few weeks/months”, and that “Christmas in a hospital bed wasn’t exactly what I had planned.” Still, he expressed his gratitude for the love and support he has received from his partner, Maisie Smith, and his family and friends, saying he felt lucky that the complications were identified before they worsened.

Siva Kaneswaran, George’s fellow member of The Wanted, provided George with his support on social media, stating: “Rest up and get well soon.” Meanwhile, Marvin Humes and JB Gill, both stars of JLS, also extended their well wishes, with Humes saying that George is “strong and will fight through”. After announcing a hiatus in 2014, George and Kaneswaran relaunched the group as a duo in 2022 after Tom Parker died from brain cancer.

Despite the setback, George has vowed to fight on and has promised to keep his fans updated on his progress. Whether he will be able to go ahead with his planned Christmas festivities remains to be determined, but one thing is certain: his dedicated supporters will be standing by him every step of the way
