Bon Iver took the stage at a rally in Wisconsin to show their support for Kamala Harris in her bid for the Democratic Party’s presidential ticket. The band played a four-song set consisting of three Bon Iver originals and a cover of a Civil War-era song called ‘The Battle Cry of Freedom’. The song was originally written by George Frederick Root in support of abolitionism and the Union.

Justin Vernon, the frontman of Bon Iver, addressed the crowd before playing their last song, saying: “We’re here for the right reasons, and we all know what we’re here for so we’re gonna do our thing, make this music, and make way for the people that we need to hear from.” The performance began at the 17:35 mark and can be watched online.

Bon Iver joins a growing list of musicians who have publicly shown support for Kamala Harris. Rapper Quavo backed Harris for her commitment to tackling gun violence and her work with the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention, which was established in 2020. Megan Thee Stallion also performed at the same rally as Bon Iver and voiced her support for Harris as the next American President, encouraging her fans to vote for her.

Olivia Rodrigo expressed her support for the current Vice President’s campaign due to Harris’ stance on reproductive rights. Charli XCX gave her backing to Harris on social media.
