Grub Records, a new music venue and record store, has opened in Sheffield with a focus on dance music. Located on Queens Road near the city centre, the venue was officially opened on July 26, and will be open every Wednesday to Sunday. The goal of Grub Records is to become a “worthy addition to the city’s wonderful scene”.
To “hit the ground running,” Grub Records has launched a Crowdfunder with the aim of raising £2500. However, the Music Venues Trust (MVT) announced in December that 2023 had been the “worst year ever for venue closures”. They had earlier reported that grassroots music venues are facing a “disaster” in their ability to stay open
