A man from Liverpool has been given a three-year prison sentence after hitting a police officer during an altercation in Southport. Derek Drummond, aged 58, admitted to the offence which took place on July 30th as he walked towards a mosque with a crowd of people. The incident involved Drummond assaulting police officers with kicks and punches as they attempted to form a defensive line with shields.
