London techno artist IMOGEN has launched her own label, Wigs. It will spin out from the community-focused dance events and workshops she has been organising over the last two years. The label’s first release, called WIGS001, will feature collaborations with DJ Stingray 313, Ben Pest, DJ Plant Texture and Jerome Hill. The project’s lead single, “A New Earth”, which was produced by IMOGEN and DJ Stingray, will be available immediately. Its sound combines techno and electro, while “Synth of Hearts”, a track produced by IMOGEN and Ben Pest, moves into grittier electro territory, with acid basslines woven in. The next few releases, according to Iogen, will showcase new Wigs artists as she seeks to build the label’s family.
Wigs began life as party series, with events and workshops across Europe featuring talent including Salome, Daria Kolosova and UR Trax. Over the last two years it has also had a simultaneous show on NTS. To mark the launch of WIGS001, New York will host an in-store release party on 15 and 16 November, while December 1 will see an in-store showcase at Phonica in London. Further Wigs releases are already planned
