Dublin-based author, Liam Cagney, has recently announced the release of his new book, Berghain Nights: A Journey Through Techno and Berlin Club Culture. Independent publisher Reaktion Books will launch the book in 2025. The book, which is expected to offer a personal account of Berlin’s nightlife scene, will also include interviews with Berlin DJs and producers, as well as details about various legendary clubs that make up the city’s effervescent nightlife scene.
Cagney intends to share his unique experiences of techno in Berlin by recounting nights spent at clubs across the German city. From kinky parties in the labyrinthine KitKat Club to the psychedelic lab of Cocktail d’Amore, Berghain Nights promises to be an intriguing read. Cagney explains that his book not only captures the excitement of Berlin’s club culture but asks how techno in a club context allows people to strip away layers of inherited hang-ups, helping them access their true selves.
