Outernet, a four-story event space in London, has secured a late-night license extension for its two venues, HERE and The Lower Third. The license will allow the venues to continue hosting events until 4 AM on Fridays and Saturdays. Outernet, which is located near Tottenham Court Road Station, regularly hosts a broad range of music events. The Lower Third, which is situated within the same complex, specializes in live band performances celebrating the history of Denmark Street.
The venues have seen performances from globally recognized artists such as Alison Goldfrapp, Chase & Status, and James Blake since opening the previous year. With the license extension, HERE and The Lower Third can expand their line-up and host more extended nights. A spokesperson for HERE stated that the venue has sold 87,000 tickets across 160 ticketed events in its first year of operation, with over 22% of the fans having attended multiple shows at the venue.
Karrie Goldberg, the co-founder of the venue, is thrilled to extend the operating hours of HERE and The Lower Third. She said that the license would give them the opportunity to organize a more extensive profile of cultural programs, from comedy and DJs to fashion shows, product launches, and more. The aim is to support diversity and bring more live music back to central London, leading to job opportunities in the music and events industries. Goldberg hopes the extended license will encourage the flourishing of sub-cultures and aid in launching new artists’ careers while continuing to be a platform for global music stars.
