S Club pay tribute to 'our brother' Paul Cattermole at start of reunion tour

The reunion tour of S Club started off with a touching on-stage tribute to their bandmate Paul Cattermole, who passed away suddenly six months ago. Bradley McIntosh teared up as he spoke of Paul, stating “That’s our brother right there, man. Gone but you’ll never be forgotten. We miss you every single day.” Paul’s demise occurred after the announcement of their first tour in eight years, to commemorate their 25th anniversary.

Manchester’s AO Arena saw the band appear in brightly coloured outfits and perform hits like ‘S Club Party’ and ‘Don’t Stop Movin’ before the video of Paul singing ‘Good Times’ was played, bringing the show to a stop. They then reappeared in black sequinned costumes to accompany him on vocals at the song’s end.

The group dedicated the performance to both Paul and the British Heart Foundation. The tribute concluded with each member addressing the fans and sharing their own individual tributes to both Paul and the fans and thanking them for their love and support. S Club also performed their first new single in 20 years ‘These Are The Days.’ The tour includes 15 arena dates across the UK before moving to the US and Canada next month.

Regarding the tour’s reunion, bandmate and ex-partner of Paul, Hannah Spearritt withdrew from their appearance, claiming she struggled with her physical and mental health after his death. The upcoming series of Dancing on Ice will see Hannah participate. S Club’s reunion tour will continue in Liverpool with 13 more dates, including a return to Manchester and three shows at London’s O2.
