Glasgow’s New World announces line-ups for former site of The Arches

Glasgow’s iconic nightclub, The Arches, closed its doors eight years ago, but the site is set to re-open this December as New World. Promoters Watchtower, who run the FLY Open Air festival and other Scottish events, will launch the nightclub with six nights already announced, including Fra.zier’s Open Till Close night with Gary Beck and Blasha & Allatt. The venue’s first event will be a launch party featuring Hayley Zalassi, Nightwave, and a secret headliner.

New World will be situated in the former home of The Arches, with its iconic railway arches interior still remaining. The Glasgow City Council had closed down The Arches in 2015 due to the decision of restricting its license to midnight. The club had been an established unit by Andy Arnold for 24 years and helped to become a world-renowned establishment for Scotland’s dance music scene.

Presale tickets for New World will become available on October 5, with general tickets going on sale from October 6. Tom Ketley, Watchtower’s founder, comments that this project will be of significant cultural significance and bring job opportunities, boost the local tourist economy, and, most importantly, provide a music space for the next generation to enjoy.

New World expects to run as a six-date pilot with the aim to have 10-15 shows in 2024. Glasgow is well-known for its fantastic crowds, and the promoters aim to attract dance music fans from various parts of the UK. Among New World’s first events will be an NYE party featuring Denis Sulta, LB aka Labat, Dominique, and Big Miz
