Warnings issued over “Silver Punisher” pills circulating in Manchester

Manchester-based drug testing facility MANDRAKE has issued a warning about a high-strength ecstasy pill known as the “Silver Punisher”. The warnings were published on October 2, stating that multiple pills that were tested contained an average MDMA content of 252 mg/tablet, which is 2.5 times the common dose. This has prompted MANDRAKE to warn people to seek medical attention if they feel unwell after taking the drug.

The pills are grey or silver in appearance and are marked with Marvel’s “The Punisher” logo. MANDRAKE has been providing harm reduction services and drug analysis labs since 2013 at Manchester Metropolitan University, warning party-goers of potentially dangerous substances. The testing left The Warehouse Project since the beginning of its new season on September 23 and continues to provide harm reduction services at several events.

Earlier this year, the UK Government took a “risky U-turn” with regards to providing drug testing facilities at festivals and clubs. Sacha Lord, founder of The Warehouse Project and Parklife, criticized the Government’s decision, calling it a “concern for the safety of many.” At recent Manchester Pride celebrations, testing revealed a synthetic powder that was sold as MDMA circulating in the city, leading to urgent warnings from Manchester City Council.

Last October, MANDRAKE found “Blue Punisher” ecstasy pills that contained an average of 477mg of MDMA, which were the strongest pills ever found in the country. MANDRAKE recommends people to take necessary precautions when taking super high-strength ecstasy pills.

MANDRAKE also conducts on-site testing facilities at The Warehouse Project and works to warn attendees about potentially dangerous substances. They advise people to see medical assistance if they have taken the drug and feel unwell. The harm reduction service warns against taking high-strength ecstasy pills and provides precautionary measures on how to stay safe.
