Sama’ Abdulhadi has been announced as the curator behind the upcoming fabric presents mix, set to be released on November 24. The Palestinian DJ and producer joins the ranks of recent mix curators such as Helena Hauff, Saoirse, and Chaos in the CBD. The compilation mix features 22 selections of techno, trance, and hip hop, including tracks from Pan-Pot, Dyzen, and Flug, as well as up-and-coming artists such as YA Z AN. It also includes a fresh track from Abdulhadi herself, ‘Well Fee’, in collaboration with activist and performer Walaa Sbeit.
Abdulhadi said of the mix, “When I started to compile this release I just thought initially about all the cool artists that I like but, as there were so many to choose from, I focused on the ones that really speak to me and get me out of bed any day, any time. Every track I have finally selected here is like a poem; a scream; or even a slap in the face. When I looked back at who I eventually chose, I was shocked to learn that they are mostly people like me”.
The mix is being released on the eve of Abdulhadi’s launch party at fabric, where she will be joined by Dasha Rush b2b Adriana Lopez, Tapefeed, and other as of yet unannounced artists. The full mix will be available digitally as well as on CD and as a double vinyl LP. Pre-order is available here and tickets to the launch party can be purchased through fabrics website.
In addition to this, Abdulhadi recently announced a new platform for underground music, Resilience, in Beirut, Lebanon. “It’s a platform for people to come together, perform to each other, learn from each other and grow with each other,” she said
