Overmono to headline Mixmag’s 40th Birthday takeover at E1

Overmono, the techno/breaks duo from Wales, will headline Mixmag’s 40th anniversary celebration at East London venue E1 on December 2. The pair will lead the festivities in honour of four decades of Mixmag. Joining them will be NTS resident Fold, rising star Tia Cousins, Bitter Babe, and junglist Pete Cannon in the Warehouse, while the Black Studio will see Ehua and Lo-Low, both alumni of Nervous Horizon and Reform Radio’s, respectively.

Mixmag’s inaugural edition was produced in 1983 and amounted to a 16-page black and white magazine sent out by Disco Mix Club, featuring Shalamar as its first cover feature. Since then, the magazine has covered everything related to dance music and club culture. Although at its height the print edition boasted a circulation of 70,000 copies, the pandemic has changed things and print production has had to be paused.

Over the years, Mixmag has covered some of the biggest names and most influential figures in dance music and club culture, including Jeff Mills, Peggy Gou, and James Blake. Since its earliest days, Mixmag has branched out into events, festivals, surveys, and more. Tickets for the 40th anniversary event with Overmono are available from the E1 website.
