Chicago house legend Teri Bristol has died aged 66

Teri Bristol, a pioneer in Chicago house music, has passed away at age 66 due to complications with kidney failure. Terry, born as Teresa K Bristol, passed away on September 27th, surrounded by her family. Her family posted on Facebook, saying that “Teri Bristol entered this world as a gift,” and that she “was undoubtedly escorted by loved ones lost to the main stage in Heaven” when she passed away.

From the early days of Chicago house, Teri Bristol showed support and encouragement for female talent and shared the stage with influential figures like Frankie Knuckles and Ron Hardy. As a producer and DJ, she held regular shows at Chicago clubs crobar, Medusa, and smartbar while releasing records and mixes via Strictly Rhythm and Master Dance Tones throughout the 80s and 90s. Some tracks also landed on the charts.

Mark Picchiotti, the founder of Blueplate Records, worked with Teri under several aliases, including Nightman and Raving Lunatics, alongside DJ Psycho-Bitch. She also performed in a trio with DJ Psycho-Bitch, under the name Pood, Bhud, ‘N’ Pflug.

Smartbar, the famous Chicago club, shared a tribute to Teri, stating that “Our thoughts and prayers are with her family.” Since Teri Bristol’s death, many have shared their condolences. A GoFundMe page has also been set up to help Teri Bristol’s family with expenses in the wake of their loss.
