The stars of Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes attended the movie’s world premiere, walking down the red carpet in London. Actress Rachel Zegler delighted fans by greeting them with excitement. Hunger Games is a million-dollar film series, with a new instalment being added after an eight-year hiatus. The previous premiere had been following the four-month strike of Hollywood actors.
Zegler attended the premiere alongside co-stars Tom Blyth, Hunter Schafer, and Josh Andres Rivera, who grew up watching Hunger Games’ previous films and reading the books. Schafer, a trans actress known for starring in HBO’s Euphoria, expressed her excitement at being a part of the movie. She claims that her 13-year-old self could not have envisioned what she’s feeling now.
The fifth installment of the movie series is based on Suzanne Collins’ best-selling books. It depicts events set 64 years before the first Hunger Games film, with Blyth playing young Coriolanus Snow aged 18. West Side Story actress Zegler stars as the Games tribute Lucy Gray Baird.
Young fans queued up in the rain to get the chance to meet the stars at the premiere. Along with them, influencers, former Love Island contestants, and drag queens were present for the screening. Hunger Games fans made costumes to wear to the premiere, illustrating their enthusiasm and support for the movie.
Director Francis Lawrence said The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is a “very different kind of movie,” with a unique story and characters compared to others in the franchise. The film is exclusively coming to cinemas across the world on November 17th
