Berlin-based DJ and producer Peggy Gou has released a new single called ‘I Believe In Love Again’ featuring R&B legend Lenny Kravitz. The new track, which was released on XL Recordings, is set to be included on Gou’s debut album which is expected to be launched in 2024. In a press release, she said: “The 90s have had such a huge influence on my music. People know about my love of the dance/house/rave scene from that time but I’ve always been a big R&B fan, and also a huge fan of Lenny”.
Describing the recording process with Kravitz, Gou said: “I listened endlessly to his 1998 album ‘5’ – my personal favourite – but his whole discography is great, totally timeless. He came into the studio and transformed the guide vocal into magic, writing new lyrics and creating that incredible guitar riff. ‘I Believe In Love Again’ is a strong message of positivity and hope, and we hope everyone feels that when they hear the song.”
To celebrate the release of the track, Gou hosted a pop-up event in Seoul where she sold exclusive merch during the day in Itaewon, before going to the Yongsan venue FERMENTS for an after-party that featured a DJ set from Gou and other artists. The new track marks Gou’s fourth studio release of the year, while she continues to receive acclaim for her boundary-pushing sets and possesses one of the most eagerly followed social media accounts in music with over 1.5 million fans.
In March 2021, Gou made her debut on XL Recordings with the song ‘(It Goes Like) Nanana’, her first release of new music in nearly two years. She hosted another pop-up event for the release of the song in London, where she surprised her fans in the Soho area.
