XL Recordings artist Yaeji has unveiled a new single, “Easy Breezy.” The track was accompanied by a lively music video in which Yaeji and her pet dog enjoy a scooter ride through Brooklyn. Drawing on her earlier work, “Easy Breezy” integrates Japanese and Korean musical influences and lyrics from Yaeji’s discography.
Yaeji commented in a statement: “‘Easy Breezy’ feels like a sequel that weaves a thread through my past releases (and my past selves). ‘Learning to let go’ – something I learned from ‘For Granted’, ‘진정한 변화는 (true change) it’s not so easy, it’s not so breezy’ – from ‘Submerge FM’.”
The song’s lyrics also reference the artist’s memories of her 20s, including the faster passage of time, as well as a nod to the music that influenced her as a middle-school student. She concluded her statement by saying: “we hold the power in our hands, and we should never doubt that. Change is now.”
This year, Yaeji has released her debut album With a Hammer, made with the help of her friend Dasom, via XL Recordings. Check out the “Easy Breezy” video below
