Earlier this week, Oakland city renamed a section of MacArthur Boulevard to Tupac Shakur Way, in memory of the late rapper who lived in the area during the 1990s. MC Hammer declared Tupac the “greatest rapper ever”, and E-40 celebrated his versatility in film, rap, poetry, and ultimately “everything”. Councilwoman Carrol Fife, who was instrumental in the push to rename the street, honored the rapper’s “legacy and contribution to Oakland California”, stating that “Tupac will be remembered as one of the greatest of all time by his family and fans”.
