K-Pop group STAYC tell Ibrox crowds 'we love Rangers' after top 'mix-up'

K-Pop group STAYC caused a stir after wearing Glasgow Rangers’ retro kit – instead of Texas Rangers’ baseball team tops – during their show in Dallas last month, and have now made a surprise visit to Scotland, where they declared their love for the Scottish football club. The band members, Sumin, Sieun, Isa, Seeun, Yoon and J, greeted fans outside the stadium, where they posed in custom-made Rangers shirts with their band name and the number 23 printed on the back. They waved, signed autographs, and made heart signs as they declared their support for the Light Blues.

“We love Rangers!” shouted one member as they addressed fans. The visit marked their first trip to Scotland, and they thanked their fans for coming out to see them. Despite the wardrobe mishap, Rangers fans on social media praised the band. A spokesperson for the club said that the move had triggered nostalgia for Rangers.

STAYC’s debut album Star to a Young Culture was released in 2020, and they are set to perform alongside other K-Pop stars for Korea on Stage in London. Various celebrities have been spotted wearing Rangers attire in the past, including boxing legend Mike Tyson, Gordon Ramsay, and Samuel L Jackson. Meanwhile, US rapper Snoop Dogg has frequently been seen in a Celtic kit, and Baywatch star David Hasselhoff is often seen in the kit of another Glasgow club, Partick Thistle.

This was STAYC’s first visit to Scotland, but they made a big impression on their fans, who were thrilled to see the K-Pop group in Rangers shirts. The Light Blues have a strong fan base around the world, and it’s always exciting for fans to see their team represented by their favourite celebrities. STAYC’s accidental wardrobe choice certainly caused a stir, but it’s clear that it hasn’t affected their fans’ support for them
