Kieran Hebden, better known as Four Tet, has released a self-recorded live performance album from earlier this year at Alexandra Palace. The two-hour-long performance saw Four Tet surrounded by 42,000 hanging lights that reacted to the music while he delivered a range of ambient tracks. The album, which is available now, includes recordings of the crowd and has been broken down into six parts. The six parts are named ‘Kool FM’, ‘Spirit Fingers’, ‘My Angel Rocks Back And Forth’, ‘Green’ and ‘Teenage Birdsong’.
Songs played by Hebden include ‘Rounds’, ‘Beautiful Rewind’, ‘New Energy’, and ‘Sixteen Oceans’. Squidsoup, the light installation group, regularly works with Four Tet on shows. Mixmag named the group’s light installation as “one of the best live shows, if not the best live show we’ve ever seen” in 2019.
In addition, Four Tet recently released a new eight-minute track titled ‘Three Drums’ following his closing set at Coachella with Fred again.. and Skrillex. The latest release is a departure from his high-adrenaline festival headline set and is more in keeping with lush soundscapes.
It should be noted that Four Tet has previously self-released his Ally Pally show in 2019. The bandcamp link to the album, titled ‘Live at Alexandra Palace London, 24th May 2023’ can be found in the article. Four Tet’s old band, Fridge, is set to reissue their 2003 album ‘Happiness’ to mark the 20th anniversary.
