Italian DJ and producer TSVI, whose real name is Gugliemo Barzacchini, has released a surprise second album titled ‘Stella Remota’. The self-released album, which spans 19 tracks, was announced by TSVI on Instagram. The project was largely written during the pandemic, with almost 25 demos to pick from. Two tracks on the album feature Loraine James, with whom TSVI was living during the writing process.

TSVI lost all his project files from the past three years, including work on the then-unfinished ‘Stella Remota’ due to a failure with his Dropbox backup system. This, coupled with insecurity about the strength of his effort and the potential reception, caused TSVI to abandon the project. However, seven months later, the album was the source of emotional catharsis for TSVI, whose mother was taken into biopsy for suspected stomach cancer. “It helped me get through one of the most difficult times of my life,” recalls Barzacchini.

The Nervous Horizon co-owner announced that all purchases of the album made on November 3, Bandcamp Friday, will go towards Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP). The album is self-released and is only available on Bandcamp. The sudden release was motivated by TSVI’s desire to share his music, which helped him navigate the difficult times, with the world.

Finally, TSVI addresses concerns that the tracks on his surprise album sound “too good” to be demo versions. He explains that this is due to his creative process, where he mixes tracks while arranging them. “Whenever I finish a track, I always export a few self-master versions just to see how loud I can really push it,” said TSVI.

Thus, ‘Stella Remota’, the project that would have been a lost album and TSVI’s second solo album, is released to the world, with TSVI hoping that the music can bring positivity and comfort to those who listen
