Lady Leshurr says her career is ruined following assault case

After being acquitted of two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, Melesha O’Garro, better known as Lady Leshurr, has said that her “career has been ruined.” The rapper had been charged with assaulting her ex-girlfriend, Sidnee Hussein and Hussein’s partner at the time, Chante Boyea, in north-east London in October 2022. O’Garro claimed that Boyea initiated the attack first and used her dog as a weapon against her.

O’Garro revealed that she has not received any income for a year and has lost deals following the accusations. She wrote on Instagram that her “career is ruined,” regardless of the trial’s outcome. Sherelle Smith, who was also accused of assaulting Hussein, was found not guilty during the same trial.

During the trial, Boyea testified that O’Garro had bitten her hand, causing nerve damage, and would not let go, ultimately resulting in Boyea no longer being able to hold a dog lead securely. But O’Garro’s defense team argued that Boyea had used her security dog in the car’s boot as a weapon against O’Garro.

Lady Leshurr, who previously hosted a show on BBC Radio 1Xtra, expressed disappointment that her name was mentioned in the headlines because of the accusations and trial, instead of her achievements in the music industry
