Organizers of the Glastonbury festival have hinted that a female artist from the US could headline the event next year. Emily Eavis, one of the festival’s organizers, revealed on the Sidetracked podcast that there may be two female headliners out of the four for the forthcoming Glastonbury festival. “Certainly, I can say that the legend is female,” said Eavis. Last year, all the headline slots were taken by male musicians which attracted criticism.

Despite being unsure of the availability of headline acts for the 2024 event, Eavis stated that discussions are underway to bring a “really big” American artist to the pyramid stage, hinting at Madonna filling the gap. The Glastonbury festival regularly attracts A-list talent for their headline acts, and Madonna has previously been linked to the festival. Organizers are also working on bringing a diverse selection of musicians to the festival by providing smaller stages for up-and-coming artists.

Eavis is passionate about the balance between male and female artists at the festival, saying that “everybody who knows, knows that it’s top of my list. I’m always trying to make it the most balanced, diverse bill.” Eavis also disclosed that the festival is holding out for a longer period before deciding on the artists to perform. The festival tickets go on sale next week for those who registered before 2020.

The lineup for next year’s Glastonbury festival has yet to be officially announced, prompting speculation about who will join the pyramid stage. Bookmakers have predicted that other artists including Dua Lipa, Spice Girls, Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Olivia Rodrigo, and The 1975 could be part of the festival lineup
