Lee Johnston: Police find body in search for missing man

A body has been discovered by police during their investigation into the missing person case of Lee Johnston. The body was found in the County Londonderry area of Maghera. Johnston, aged 21, had been last seen in Cookstown’s Dunmore Crescent on October 7th. The superintendent in charge of the investigation stated that it was “completely out of character” for Johnston not to be in contact with his family, and therefore had to be treated as a high risk missing person.

Two arrests had been made in connection with Johnston’s disappearance, a 31-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man. Both have been bailed as the investigation proceeds. Johnston was reportedly last seen in County Tyrone town around 17:24 BST, with CCTV images showing the individual at a Cookstown supermarket Orritor Road store 30 minutes earlier. Police have not disclosed further information about the body they discovered.

The discovery of the body marks a tragic end to the search for the missing man. The investigation is ongoing, and more information is likely to be released in the coming weeks as police work to piece together the events surrounding Lee Johnston’s disappearance. The public are encouraged to come forward if they have any information that could be useful in aiding the police.
